On June 24, an expert panel for project evaluation, led by Mr. Chen Ji, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CSMA, visited Jiangnan University to conduct the final evaluation of the Phase III soft research project titled “Research on Precision Control Models for Fabric Grasping and Blanking Based on Soft Robotic Hands”, undertaken by the university.

Associate Professor Su Junqiang, the project leader from Jiangnan University, delivered a comprehensive report on behalf of the research team. The project spanned a year and a half, during which the team focused on key tasks outlined in CSMA’s soft research agenda. Starting with theoretical analysis, the team investigated the mechanisms and influencing factors of layer-by-layer grasping and blanking by existing soft robotic hands for textile fabrics. They developed a mechanical model for fabric grasping using soft robotic hands, conducted extensive experimental analysis, and optimized the design of the robotic structure and gripping components. As a result, they successfully developed a physical prototype of an intelligent grasping mechanism adaptable to various fabrics and application scenarios. This outcome has already seen initial application at companies such as Suzhou SoftTouch, with positive market feedback.
The expert panel fully affirmed the project's research achievements. Drawing on their own professional experience, the experts provided concrete suggestions on further research directions and application scenarios. The panel unanimously approved the project’s acceptance.
During the project evaluation visit, Mr. Chen Ji also visited local sewing machinery companies such as Bailian and Annuoke.
