2026 National Collegiate Sewing Machinery CNC Design Competition Successfully Held in Guangzhou

On July 4, the fourth stop of the 2026 National Collegiate Sewing Machinery CNC Design Competition successfully got underway at Guangzhou Industry and Trade Technician College. More than 120 young students from across Guangdong competed in two categories: embroidery digitizing and pattern-making design, and nesting process design for CNC cutting machines. Chen Ji, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Sewing Machinery Association, presided over the competition.

The competition was conducted through hands-on practical exercises. Except for some adjustments to the specific test questions, the format was essentially the same as that of the first three stops. Participants were required to complete either embroidery pattern design and digitizing or garment pattern nesting design within a specified time limit. The test questions were designed to reflect real-world industry application scenarios while taking into account the participants' current technical capabilities. The competition tested not only their theoretical foundations but also their ability to respond effectively under pressure and apply flexible, innovative thinking. Overall, the participants performed well, and many expressed the view that the competition provided valuable guidance for improving their technical skills and enhancing their suitability for future job roles.

Chen Ji noted that the industry currently faces a significant shortage of skilled professionals in embroidery digitizing and CNC cutting technologies, with strong market demand for hands-on and interdisciplinary technical talent. The competition provides young students with a high-quality platform where practice promotes learning and competition drives improvement. He expressed the hope that teachers and students will make the most of such opportunities, participate more actively in hands-on training with real machinery, accumulate practical experience, narrow the gap between campus learning and workplace requirements, and lay a solid foundation for future employment.

During the event, Chen Ji and his delegation also visited Guangzhou Gaoke Garment Equipment Co., Ltd. for research and discussions.
