Three Industry Standards in the Sewing Machinery Sector Approved After Review

On November 19, an video conference was held to review three industry standards—Inspection Rules for Sewing Machinery Products, Test Methods for Energy Consumption of Sewing Machinery – Part 3: Overlock Sewing Machines, and Sewing Machinery Terminology – Control System Terminology. The meeting was attended by Chen Ji, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Sewing Machinery Association (CSMA) and Deputy Director & Secretary General of the National Technical Committee for Sewing Machinery Standardization (SAC/TC 152); Lin Jianlong, CSMA Supervisor; Fang Haixiang, Deputy Director of SAC/TC 152; consultants Wu Jianmin and Luo Yiming; as well as more than 40 committee members and representatives. The meeting was chaired by Xu Dong, CSMA Vice Secretary General.

During the meeting, representatives from Shanghai Sewing Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd., MAQI Technology Group Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Promax Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. presented the drafting process and feedback handling for the three standards. Experts then reviewed the technical content item by item, focusing on the rationality of technical parameters, the reliability of data sources, and the standardization of the text. After thorough discussion, the expert panel unanimously agreed that the three standards feature a well-structured framework, clear logic, and comprehensive content that align with current industry development trends and technological levels. All three standards were approved unanimously.

In addition, the meeting conducted technical discussions on two other standards: General Technical Requirements for Sewing Machine Arms and General Technical Requirements for Sewing Machine Tablets. Experts exchanged views on key aspects such as technical specifications, material selections, and testing methods, and offered targeted optimization suggestions based on actual industry application scenarios.

In concluding remarks, Chen Ji emphasized that each drafting group should fully incorporate the experts’ feedback and promptly complete revisions. He also addressed several issues encountered in the standardization process—including irregular drafting instructions, insufficient technical validation, and delays in project timelines—and provided specific guidance and arrangements for improvement on behalf of the Secretariat of SAC/TC 152.
