The 2024 Sewing Machinery Industry Standardization Conference was Successfully Held

On December 18th, the Annual Standardization Conference of the National Sewing Machinery Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC152) and the Sewing Machinery Electrical Systems Subcommittee of the National Industrial Machinery Electrical Systems Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC231/SC4) was held in Huzhou, Zhejiang. Yang Xiaojing, Chairman of the China Sewing Machinery Association (CSMA), Chen Ji, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CSMA, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of TC152, Chairman of TC231/SC4, along with 60 representatives from SAC/TC152 and SAC/TC231/SC4 attended the conference, the conference was hosted by Xu Dong, Vice Secretary-General of CSMA.

Yang Xiaojing delivered the opening speech, offering warm congratulations to the successful convening of the annual conferences of both committees, and expressed sincere gratitude to the industry experts who had made outstanding contributions to industry standardization over the past year. He emphasized that, standardization is a key factor in driving industry progress, ensuring product quality, and enhancing international competitiveness, the industry should unite and dedicate to achieving high-quality development of the sewing machinery industry's standardization efforts. Regarding future industry standardization, Yang Xiaojing outlined three hopes: 

First, to face new challenges by accelerating the construction of a modern standardization system for the industry. Standardization work is a key guide and important safeguard for achieving new industrialization. The standardization committee should strengthen the review and optimization of existing standards, revise and develop basic universal standards, key product standards, and smart sewing standards, and scientifically plan the key tasks for standardization in the "15th Five-Year" plan. The goal is to create a modern sewing machinery standardization system that aligns with industry development trends and is characterized by digitalization and intelligence. 

Second, to address new requirements by accelerating the revision and creation of urgently needed, leading standards. In response to the transformation and upgrading of the downstream garment industry, the sewing machinery sector should speed up the conversion of technological achievements into national and industry standards. More standards should be formulated to address the cutting-edge technology and user needs of the industry. This will gradually enhance the leadership and applicability of sewing machine industry standards, creating a new pattern where "standards lead and drive the industry, enterprises, and brands to lead."

Third, to tackle new tasks by strengthening the committee's team, stimulating vitality, and enhancing the ability and level of standard drafting and revision. Both the full Sewing Machinery Standardization Committee and the Electrical Systems Subcommittee should follow the guidance of the "National Standardization Development Outline" and other related documents, such as the "Guiding Opinions on Strengthening the Work of National Professional Standardization Technical Committees." They should strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders, improve governance effectiveness, enhance talent development, and promote international cooperation, all while leading high-quality development through high standards.

Finally, he stated that as the secretariat for both committees, CSMA will continue to support industry standardization work and the development of the committees, organize special actions to enhance professional capabilities in standardization work, offer skills training for standardization tasks, and cultivate talent to support the industry’s high-quality development.

Chen Ji presented the summary of the 2024 standardization work of the sewing machinery industry. In 2024, both committees focused on product innovation, quality improvement, and advancing standard development, actively worked on promoting standard formulation, organizing standard dissemination, conducting preliminary research on standards, strengthening talent development, optimizing internal processes, and connecting with international organizations, achieving positive results. In 2025, the committees will focus on steadily advancing the revision and creation of standards, strengthening preliminary research and system improvement, enhancing the promotion and implementation of standards, nurturing talent, and advancing the internationalization of standards.

The conference approved the review opinions for seven national standards, including five that remain effective and two that will be revised. Revision of the following standards were approved: national standard for "Sewing Machine Terminology - Part 4: Functional Component Terminology," and four industry standards, "Thread End Trimming Machines," "Sewing Material Glue Dispensing Machines," "Industrial Sewing Machines - Arm Type Chain  Stitch Sewing Machines," and "Controlling Panel Iconographic Operation Symbols." Additionally, feedback was solicited on the national standard for "Mechanical and Electrical Equipment - Sewing Machinery Digital Control Systems - Part 2: Data Dictionary" and the industry standard for "Sewing Machinery Energy Consumption Testing Methods - Part 3: Overlocking Sewing Machines."

Chen Ji concluded the meeting by praising the results and the hard work of the standard drafting groups. He emphasized that standards serve as the universal language of the industry and expressed the hope that sewing machine enterprises would actively participate in standardization efforts to improve the quality of standard texts and their implementation. For 2025, he outlined four key tasks for the committee: First, to support the industry's digital upgrade by accelerating the development of digital standards and improving the industry’s digital standard system to ensure "smart transformation, digitalization, and interconnectivity. Second, to support the industry’s green development by promoting the industry’s green and low-carbon transformation and encouraging enterprises to participate in the development of green standards. Third, to begin drafting the industry's "15th Five-Year" standardization plan, reviewing highlights and shortcomings from the "14th Five-Year" period, aligning with national strategies for the "15th Five-Year" period, and setting goals for the next five years. Fourth, to prepare for the next term of the committee by recommending qualified experts and talent for the new committee, helping drive high-quality standardization development in the sewing machinery industry.

During the meeting, representatives also visited the Teng Zhuo Intelligent Technology (Huzhou) Co., Ltd.
