The Foreign-Language Translations of Two National Standards on Sewing Machinery Successfully Passed Review

On July 30, the review meeting for the foreign-language translations of two national standards—Sewing Machinery Terminology—Part 1: General Terms and Sewing Machinery Terminology—Part 3: Terms for Cloth Spreading and Cutting Equipment—was held online. More than 40 committee members and representatives attended the meeting, including Chen Ji, Vice President and Secretary General of CSMA and Deputy Director and Secretary General of the National Technical Committee on Sewing Machinery Standardization (SAC/TC152); Lin Jianlong, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CSMA; Fang Haixiang, Deputy Director of SAC/TC152; and consultants Wu Jianmin and Luo Yiming. The meeting was chaired by Xu Dong, Deputy Secretary General of CSMA.

At the meeting, Jack Technology Co.,Ltd. and Bullmer Electromechanical Technology Co. Ltd., the units responsible for the translations, reported on their work. The participating committee members focused discussions on translation accuracy, linguistic consistency, and the applicability of technical terminology, and proposed revisions accordingly. After deliberation, the committee unanimously approved the translations of the two national standards.

In his concluding remarks, Chen Ji emphasized that the successful development of the foreign-language versions of these two national standards marks a solid step forward for China’s sewing machinery industry in the field of international standardization. He noted its great significance in accelerating the transformation of China from a major sewing machinery producer to a strong global leader. He stressed that the Secretariat of the Standardization Committee will continue to deepen international standardization work, with a focus on leading the formulation and revision of international standards in critical areas such as fundamental terminology and product safety. This effort will help ensure that China’s technological innovations and practical achievements are effectively translated into international rules, substantially enhancing China’s influence in international standard setting, and guiding the high-quality development of the sewing machinery industry
