According to the Express Statistics released by the General Administration of Customs, China’s textile and apparel exports totaled USD 90.47 billion from January to April this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.1%. Among them, textile exports reached USD 45.85 billion, up 3.8%, while apparel exports amounted to USD 44.62 billion, down 1.5% year-on-year.
Measured in RMB, textile and apparel exports during the same period totaled RMB 649.54 billion, up 2.2% year-on-year. Specifically, textile exports were RMB 329.17 billion, up 4.9%, and apparel exports were RMB 320.37 billion, showing a slight decrease of 0.5% year-on-year.
In the first four months of this year, China’s textile and apparel exports maintained overall stability. Textile exports continued their growth momentum, while apparel exports remained under downward pressure. Affected by factors such as U.S. tariff policies, global trade frictions have intensified, and the foundation for external demand recovery remains unstable, resulting in rising uncertainties for foreign trade development in the industry.
Against this backdrop, textile foreign trade enterprises must stay closely attuned to changes in the external environment, actively adjust their business strategies, focus on enhancing the added value of export products and the resilience of the industrial chain, and tap deeper into the potential of regional cooperation. Efforts should be accelerated to integrate into key markets such as those under the RCEP and the Belt and Road Initiative. At the same time, enterprises should drive the deep integration of new growth drivers such as green and low-carbon development, intelligent manufacturing, and digital trade, in order to foster endogenous momentum for high-quality development and strengthen the foundation for stable and improved foreign trade performance.
