Unwavering Progress, Unrelenting Dedication: Writing a New Chapter for the Development of China's Sewing Machinery Industry in the New Era——Speech by Chairman Yang Xiaojing at the 40th Anniversary of the China Sewing Machinery Association

Today, with great joy, we gather here to review the 40-year journey of the China Sewing Machinery Association, share the remarkable achievements of the industry’s transformation from large to strong, and look forward to a bright and motivating future. On behalf of the China Sewing Machinery Association, I would like to express sincere respect to the leaders of the China National Light Industry Council, the leaders of relevant national ministries, and the leaders of related industry associations who have supported and cared for the development of our industry and CSMA. I also extend heartfelt thanks to the senior leaders, experts, and all members who have silently contributed to the industry's growth and the achievement of our nation’s goals.

Forty years is a fleeting moment in the long history of humankind, but for the China Sewing Machinery Association, it has been an extraordinary period of growth. Over the past four decades, CSMA has adhered to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, deepened its "Four Services" (serving the country, society, industry, and members), cultivated its brand, and strengthened its internal construction. Together with its member enterprises, CSMA has weathered challenges, joining forces to write a magnificent and historic chapter in the development of China’s sewing machinery industry.

Forty Years’ Journey has been a History of Entrepreneurship, Hard Working and Passing on the Torch from Generation to Generation: The 40 years of CSMA’s history is one of enduring hardship and striving for success. Since its establishment in November 1984, the China Sewing Machinery Association has grown alongside the industry, leading it from small to large, from weak to strong. CSMA has built the most advanced and comprehensive sewing machinery industry chain in the world, with industry scale ranking first globally. Industrial sewing equipment accounts for over 85% of global output, and the number of core technological achievements and patents has exceeded 20,000. CSMA, under the leadership of past chairmen such as Zhang Xialiang, Liang Yuxin, Zhang Chonghe, Wang Fenghe, Tian Minyu, and He Ye, has adhered to a strategy of professionalism, marketization, internationalization, and specialization. It has continuously optimized its organizational mechanisms, built a high-quality team, and established various platforms to meet the industry's diverse needs. Today, CSMA has 6 branch institutions, 2 standardization organizations, 1 national skills evaluation center, and 516 member enterprises. The total revenue of member enterprises accounts for 80% of the industry’s total, making CSMA a trusted organization by the government, indispensable for enterprises, essential for the industry, and influential in society.

Forty Years’ Journey has been a History of Innovation, Serving the Country and Fulfilling its Mission: Throughout these years, CSMA has committed itself to serving the country, society, industry, and its members. It has driven innovation, supported enterprises, and continuously enhanced its services. CSMA has pioneered various initiatives, such as industry party-building, data analysis, technological standards, quality branding, talent cultivation, and market expansion. Whether implementing national policies, advising on government decisions, developing industry revitalization plans, or guiding the structural adjustments and transformations of the industry, CSMA has earned high praise from the government, society, and the industry. Over the past 40 years, CSMA has been awarded numerous honors, including "National Advanced Civilian Organization" and "Advanced Collective in the Light Industry." Four of ten group standards developed by CSMA have been selected as model projects by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Forty Years’ Journey has been a History of Arduous Struggle, Overcoming Obstacles and Remaining Resolute: The 40 years of CSMA’s history is one of resilience in the face of adversity. The industry has faced various difficulties and challenges, especially since the turn of the century, when global economic adjustments, industrial competition, and technological revolutions intersected with China’s accelerated economic transformation. From the financial crisis, subprime mortgage crisis, to the impact of SARS and COVID-19, CSMA has led the industry with perseverance and courage, overcoming obstacles and seizing historic opportunities. The industry has transformed from focusing on household machines to industrial machines, from following innovation to independent innovation, from a domestic market focus to a "dual circulation" model, and from labor-intensive industries to capital- and technology-intensive sectors. By the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the industry had already reached the target of becoming a global leader. Now, we continue to stride forward toward even more ambitious goals.

Forty Years’ Journey has been a History of Development, Striving for Progress and Inspiring Action: The 40-year development of CSMA mirrors the great progress of China’s reform and opening-up and the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Over the past four decades, CSMA has witnessed and participated in the development of China’s sewing machinery industry, which has adhered to its original mission and made steady progress under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Reflecting on the past, we are grateful for the CPC’s leadership, for the progress of the times, and for the support of our higher authorities, partners, and all the colleagues in the industry who have actively promoted the industry’s development. It is because of your contributions that we have CSMA’s achievements today. CSMA is truly "home" for all of us. Looking toward the future, new challenges and responsibilities await. New milestones require new missions and actions. As we pursue the grand vision of the "Two Centenary Goals," the China Sewing Machinery Association will continue to stay true to its mission, sail forward, and play its role as a bridge and link. It will strive to build a modern industry association based on democratic management, self-regulation, scientific management, and sustainability, leading the industry in its historical leap from automation to digitalization and intelligence. The road is long and challenging, but with determination, we will reach our destination. I am confident that, taking the 40th anniversary as a new starting point, and with the concerted efforts of all our member enterprises, the China Sewing Machinery Association will continue to make unrelenting progress, remain dedicated, and rise to the occasion to lead the industry toward a brighter future, and write a new chapter in the development of China’s sewing machinery industry in the new era.
